According to the recent "Housing Monitor 2025" survey report released by the leading global market research firm Ipsos, 73% of Brazilian respondents dream of owning their own home, but rising housing prices and high interest rates are the biggest obstacles to their home-buying aspirations.

The Brazilian website "gpsbrasilia" reported on February 27 that the survey covered 29 countries or regions with 22.279 million residents, and data from Brazil shows that young people are finding it harder to achieve their dream of buying a home. Approximately 62% of young respondents believe that purchasing a home is more challenging today compared to previous generations. These young individuals attribute the increasing financial pressure and rising loan interest rates to making this dream more distant.

The survey also indicates that over half of Brazilians (69%) believe that current housing prices have increased compared to 12 months ago, reflecting recent trends in the real estate market. Inflation and growing real estate demand have driven up prices, particularly evident in urban areas' real estate markets.

Marcos Calliari, the President of Ipsos Brazil, stated, "62% of young Brazilians mentioned the pessimism of the new generation regarding buying a house. However, compared to other countries or regions, the situation in Brazil is relatively optimistic, as globally an average of 70% of young people believe they cannot afford a home."

Expectations for the future align with the continuing trend of rising real estate markets. Data shows that 68% of Brazilian respondents predict that housing prices will continue to increase in the next 12 months, indicating that many Brazilians are aware of the potential challenges of purchasing a home in the future.

Due to the recent economic instability, many Brazilians who plan to buy a home are uncertain about whether they can achieve this dream in the future. The survey reveals that 76% of renters have the intention to buy a home, but 36% find it difficult to do so due to high housing prices.

In the survey, 68% of Brazilians stated that not owning a home makes them feel insecure, while 55% of respondents are satisfied with their current living environment. This suggests that compared to homeowners, tenants face greater housing challenges, with homeownership providing a sense of security both economically and emotionally.

More than a third of Brazilians (37%) express concern about the current burden of rent and mortgage payments, with 39% of respondents feeling even more worried about the pressure of rent and mortgage payments in the next 12 months.
