Recently, Swedish dock workers threatened to prevent Tesla from entering the country, which is the most serious labor dispute Tesla has faced in Europe so far.

According to the Swedish Transport Workers Union, which represents 57,000 transport workers and threatened to block the port, Tesla mainly arrived in Sweden through four ports, including Malmo, Gothenburg, Trelleborg and S?dert?lje.

Tommy Wreeth, the chairman of the trade union, said that the plan would start on November 7th, and if it continued, "no Tesla could enter Sweden".

The union leader said that this was a sympathy action for IF Metall union members working at Tesla's Swedish repair plant. They had previously held a strike because the manufacturer refused to sign a collective work agreement.

The representative of IF Metall said that Tesla's local subsidiary TM Sweden had refused to sign the agreement for several years, which led to the strike action.

Jesper Pettersson, a spokesman for IF Metall, said, "We hope that our members working at Tesla can enjoy the same benefits as others in the Swedish labor market. We don't see any reason for Tesla to follow different rules."

Starting from noon on November 7, the dispute will spread to four major ports in Sweden - Malmo, Gothenburg, Trelleborg and S?dert?lje.

Tommy Wreeth, the chairman of the Swedish Transport Association, said, "For the transportation industry, it is natural to support IF Metall when they request for support.

"In Sweden and the Swedish labor market, we have collective agreements - the transportation industry will always support this."

Of course, Tesla employees should also be provided with safe and fair conditions.

The union said that the ban on handling Tesla cars would continue until further notice or until a collective agreement was signed, but claimed that other freight operations would not be affected.

A statement said, "The action of sympathy includes blocking all Tesla cars from being loaded and unloaded at four ports in Sweden.

The blockade only applies to the loading and unloading of Tesla cars. Other work at the port will not be affected.

This move could significantly weaken Tesla's market share in Sweden. According to eu-evs.com, which tracks the registration of new electric vehicles in the European market, Tesla sold 9,189 vehicles in 2022, accounting for 9.5% of the market share in Sweden, ranking fourth in the country's electric vehicle sales.

However, this year it has leapt to the top, with 16,807 cars sold so far, and its market share has increased to 18%.
